From the 1940's, this Sioux
shirt was traded to a trader/pow-wow dancer from Santo Domingo Pueblo who
continues to have a trading post at the Pueblo even today. The shirt
was worn in many dances at Santo Domingo, and is a great example of tribal
cultures melding, at least from a fashion standpoint.
We discovered the shirt
hanging high and dusty from the rafters at the trading post where the dry
climate has preserved it for many years.
The shirt is in magnificent condition. |
